The U12 program serves a wide range of skiing abilities, with an increased focus on cross training, goal setting, planning, and equipment. The coaches of both, the U10 Teams and the U14 Teams, work closely together to better evaluate and accommodate different ski and race levels. It is an introductory racing program for skiers who have little racing experience but also provides more focused race training for the athletes who have several years of racing behind them.
The majority of time is still spent in directed free skiing, with incremental increases in gate training. Giant Slalom is the main focus of all gate training, with a gradual increase in Slalom gate training.
All athletes must be comfortable skiing the entire mountain. Athletes who are not comfortable skiing the entire mountain may be mixed with a stronger U10 Team, until they gain confidence skiing the entire mountain. Stronger U12 Team athletes may also ski and train with the U14 Teams.
