Alpine Skiing Program Information

The Levels of MARA Alpine Development

The MARA Alpine program consists of four levels of training. Each is designed to refine and enhance the athlete’s skills and knowledge of the sport. The Introductory Program is a six week Saturday only program for first time MARA participants ages 6 to 12 wanting to "take a look" at what MARA is all about. The Mighty Might Program is a one or two day per week option depending on participant skill level and desired commitment. Our Junior Program is also designed to meet the needs of the individual athlete by offering one, two, and three day per week options. Full-Time Training is reserved for elite athletes seeking qualification to age class Jr. Olympics and regional/National FIS competition. MARA is able to provide a limited amount of scholarships to qualified applicants.

MIGHTY MIGHTS

The Mighty Might program is a fun and exciting season-long program for six to twelve year olds. It provides an opportunity for children to improve their basic skiing and racing skills, while enjoying the company of their peers.

At this level we offer a one day Saturday program for six to twelve year olds to develop basic ski skills and a two day, Saturday and Sunday option for nine to twelve year olds to further develop basic racing skills.

Race competition at this level is encouraged but not required.

As much as possible, groups of six to eight athletes are developed with similar ages and skill levels. The common goal is to continue skill development and prepare for a lifetime of ski enjoyment.

JUNIOR RACING

Our Junior Racing program is designed to offer advanced skills development and focused race training in packages that meet the unique needs of our many athletes 13 and older. We offer a one day Saturday or Sunday option and a two day Saturday and Sunday program.

Each offering is built with the athlete in mind. Individual needs and goals are assessed to develop the right training program for each athlete. Athletes competing in MARA hosted events, High School programs and those competing in USSA/FIS sanctioned events are welcome. Further emphasis will be placed on free skiing, mental and physical conditioning, equipment preparation, video analysis, and overall race preparedness.
